“Quokka” gets featured on the new Margaret River Gin Label
One of the most satisfying moments in an artist’s life is when they’re able to share their art with the rest of the world. Sparking discussions and creating a community around your artworks is a dream that many of us share. It’s an even more significant honour when someone deems your creation something worthy of representing their products. The pride we attain on such an occasion is one that we’ll never be able to forget. And I was lucky enough to have my “Quokka” featured in Margaret River’s Rhubarb and Hibiscus gin label.
My art always represents what I love the most- colours, motion and life. “Quokka” is no different. As a child who grew up in Kenya, I was constantly exposed to the wild and the unrestrained. My childhood shaped my adoration for animals and my passion for arts, but it was my health battles that made me an artist. I’ve always tried to communicate the feeling of “happiness” through my artworks. Quokka, I feel, is the happiest animal in the world. And I wanted to pay justice to its natural positive aura using my art.
Knowing how talented our local artists are, I’m beyond ecstatic that my art was selected for the label. When Dune Distilling Co. announced the emerging artist competition, I decided to participate out of genuine curiosity. While the cash prize was definitely intriguing, it was the unquenchable artist in me that made my resolve firmer. The piece I designed was a reflection of the adventure we call life. The happy Rottnest inhabitant, the Quokka, inspires me to keep smiling, even when the sky becomes grey. With its bright colours, I hope the label captures the attention of everyone who comes across it. I hope Quokka ignites your imagination and helps you create the joy you seek.
