MY FIRST TASTE AND PAINT
From the moment I first became conscious of colours and how they build and shape the world around me, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. The unrestrained African jungles and the emboldened culture opened my eyes to the beauty of colours and their impact on life. This appreciation for the hues and shades that painted my childhood made me the artist I am today. Art became my haven when I needed comfort and my voice when I had none. Years of creating and enjoying art have only made me appreciate it even more, every day. Everyone deserves to enjoy art as it is- a creative medium to express yourself. And that is why I started “Taste and Paint.”
As it always is when you start a new venture, my first “Taste and Paint” session was one I looked forward to with equal amounts of excitement and nervousness. However, once I met the participants, the anxiety melted away, leaving behind just the happiness to share and create art. The event was held at Cellarbrations, Subiaco on Dec 1st 2021 as per the COVID safetyprotocols. As it was meant to be, those who turned up for the event were looking for a way to unwind after a long week. With the effects of the pandemic still lingering behind, it was refreshing to get out of their homes and spend some time relaxing and creating.
There is an artist inside each one of us, and the first session of “Taste and Paint” proved it to me again. The sound of the brushes stroking against the canvas felt heavenly after being around the noises of the city. The group spent hours creating their versions of the painting while I guided them. I had decided to start simple and paint a sunflower with a bee on it. After all, yellow is the colour of creativity and happiness. As the evening went on, I could see crinkled brows making way for contented smiles, spreading warmth to my soul. Even though not everyone in the group was an experienced artist, they could still enjoy themselves and make their own masterpieces.
When we needed a break from painting, we had wines to taste. Our suppliers had given us a variety of drinks to taste, so everyone could find something they enjoy. As we tended to parched throats, we munched on the snacks, making small conversations, laughs echoing around the room now and then. When the slotted time was over and everyone posed with the product of their hard work, I could feel warmth spreading to my very soul. That moment- the pride, the happiness, the satisfaction you get from creating an artwork- that’s what makes art so beautiful.
It truly was a fantastic experience. I’m looking forward to meeting more art enthusiasts at Taste and Paint and spreading the joy of colours and painting! Book your seats now for the next Taste and Paint session.
